Help: Miscelaneous Topics

Video Classifications

Under the 1984 Video Recordings Act, all videos offered for sale or hire in Britain must be classified by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) for their suitability for home viewing. To help you make appropriate video choices, we display these ratings for all the videos we sell.

Exempt
Most of the videos we sell fall under this category. This means that the film or programme is exempt from classification. Music, religious, sport, instructional and documentary titles do not have to be submitted for classification unless they include scenes of violence, sex, bad language, horror, drugs, or imitable techniques which cause them to lose their exemption.
U
Universal: suitable for all
Uc
Universal, but particularly suitable for young children
PG
Parental Guidance Recommended: for general viewing but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children
12
Unsuitable for children under 12 years of age
15
Unsuitable for children under 15 years of age
18
Unsuitable for persons under 18 years of age

Video Formats

All of our videos are in the PAL VHS format only, and your VCR must be PAL compatible in order to play these.

There are three world standards for video, PAL, NTSC and SECAM. PAL is the most widely used format in the UK and Europe. These standards are mostly incompatible, although some recent VCRs will play multiple formats, so please check your VCR manual, or with the manufacturer if in doubt.

Do you sell DVDs?

Sorry, but at this time we are only able to offer our titles on VHS video tape, and not on DVD.
