Is it safe to use my credit/debit card?

Online payment at Gaia Films is totally secure. All our online transactions are carried out through the NetBanx payment service, using SSL Encryption to protect your information, encrypting it so that it cannot be intercepted or altered in transit. At no point does Gaia Films see your credit card number.

NetBanx was developed in 1996 for use on the World Wide Web and is the most popular and longest standing generally available payment solution in the UK, approved by the major banks. All payment card information sent to and from NetBanx is encrypted using 128 bit ciphers and standard Secure Socket Layer technology. Firewalls within the NetBanx system allow the isolation of information from hackers.

The NetBanx service checks the card number and makes further security checks to validate the authenticity of the cardholder information. NetBanx then processes transactions by requesting authorisation from the appropriate bank and finally obtains confirmation that the bank has cleared the payment. Upon completion of the payment process, confirmation is given to you, the customer. The NetBanx system generates an email for both Gaia Films and you, the customer, to confirm the transaction, but no credit card information is transmitted in these e-mails. Your purchases are then processed by us.

Can I pay by cheque?

If you don't feel comfortable paying online, you may send us a cheque for your order by post. To pay by cheque:

1. Add the products you wish to purchase to your shopping basket and proceed to the 'Checkout'.
2. After filling in your personal details, you will see the total cost including delivery, and be given the choice of paying online or by cheque.
3. If you choose to pay by cheque, please make a note of the unique order number at the bottom left of the screen. After a few minutes you will be sent an e-mail containing your order details, which you should print out and send to us along with your cheque. Post your order to:

Cheques should be made payable to Gaia Films. They should be in British Pounds Sterling (£), drawn on a British bank. Goods will not be dispatched until your cheque has cleared — please allow seven working days for this.

Do you accept international orders?

We are happy to accept orders from most countries. You will have to pay in British Pounds Sterling (£), but your bank/credit card company should automatically convert this to your local currency, based on current exchange rates. A currency converter is provided at our checkout as a guide.

Please bear in mind that all our videos are in PAL VHS format — see our section on video formats.

Will my personal details remain private on your site?

We are committed to protecting the privacy of those using this site and the confidentiality of the personal information our customers provide us with. We use the information you give us to ensure that your order is processed smoothly. Beyond that we only use personal information if volunteered by you.

Gaia Films will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the UK's Data Protection Act 1998).

We collect information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and secondly, to provide you with the best possible service.

We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent.

We will not pass on your e-mail address to other traders or marketing companies.

The type of information we will collect about you includes:

• address
• phone number
• e-mail address

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent.

The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by e-mailing us at help@gaiafilms.co.uk If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law and the Which? Web Trader Code. If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first.

We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. This can include a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. You can modify your browser to prevent this happening. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings.

What are "cookies" and why do you use them?

Cookies are small text files that are used by browsers to store information on your computer. This site may make use of temporary cookies in order for regular shoppers to avoid re-entering their personal details each time they purchase something. Credit card details are not stored in these cookies. These cookies are optional — you will still be able to shop here if you do not wish to accept them.
